The ruggedly beautiful landscape of the Central Highlands holds true to every romantic notion of Scotland, with glistening lochs and green glens interposed between awe-inspiring mountains.
It was in this very heart of Scotland, alongside Perthshire's longest glen, deepest loch and tallest mountain, where the sons of legendary whisky blender John Dewar chose to establish Aberfeldy distillery in 1898, just a stone's throw from their father's humble crofting birthplace.
The distillery was built to be state of the art by leading industry architect Charles Doig, and features his iconic pagoda roof design.
During its first 70 years there was even a private railway line operating to and from the Dewar's blending facility in Perth, bringing in grain and coal, and taking away casks of whisky.
Aberfeldy malt has now been at the very core of Dewar's blends for over a hundred years, and helped Dewar's famous White Label become one of the world's bestselling whiskies.
