It’s Chris here, Founder of The Dram Team. I’m writing because while we are required to have a long-winded legalese privacy policy, for the most part our approach is pretty simple, and it’s worth me telling it to you in plain English in a few simple paragraphs.
Below is a nutshell version of things you need to know about data and privacy, but first of all, please take it from me personally that all we’re interested in doing is introducing people to a lot of great whiskies, and we care a lot about using your info in the right way.
As such, any data/info we collect is only to help us meet more whisky fans online so we can introduce them to what we do and send them things of value, and we sure as heck won’t sell that data to anyone, and we sure as heck keep it private. Finally, you can sure as heck ask us to stop sending you emails or delete your data and we’ll do that ASAP!
Anyway, here’s the headlines:
1) If you visit our website, we’ll use cookies (not the biscuits, more like a virtual breadcrumb trail that tells us where you go on our site) and similar things (Facebook call them “pixels” for example) to collect some info about how you use our website. This covers things like how you found us (e.g. from Google or social media), what pages you visit in what order, how long you spend here etc. This helps us understand what sort of experience people have on our site, and how we can make it easier for you to get what you want.
2) If you buy from us, we’ll collect your details to help us fulfil your order, and you’ll have the option to receive marketing emails from us to (but by default you’ll only receive emails about your order). Payment data, like any proper website, is only collected for the sake of payments and is kept very securely by our payment providers (we don’t get to see it!).
3) If you sign up to our email list, we’ll send you emails that tell you about what we do (this might be a series of emails introducing you to our business, it might be our regular newsletters, it might be something we think is valuable to you like an offer or a giveaway). You can unsubscribe at any time using the links in these emails.
4) If you entered one of our competitions, you’ll be added to our email list as standard, but at the point of providing your email, we will have made it explicitly clear to you that we were going to do this (and you can unsubscribe at any time as per number 3).
5) If you did one of our quizzes on Facebook or elsewhere and provided your email afterwards, as with our competitions, we will have made it explicitly clear to you that we would then include you on our mailing list (and as ever, you can unsubscribe at any time).
If for any reason you think we mucked up and did something we shouldn’t have, I am confident it is a mistake, as I personally oversee how we handle customer data and manage our communications with customers and email subscribers, so please write to me at chris@thedramteam.co.uk with any concerns or requests, and I’ll deal with it personally.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the full legalese version below!
Best wishes,
Chris
(Dram Team Founder)
