Sláinte. – The Dram Team

Claxton’s Warehouse No.1, April 2025 Box

Invergordon 2006, Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Here at The Dram Team our penchant for well-aged single grain whisky is matched only by our love of sherry cask drams. Imagine our delight when we learned of this bottling, which features spirit from the Highland region's only grain distillery aged for 17 glorious years in a PX sherry hogshead: and at cask strength too. Happy birthday to us!

Tasting notes

Nose: Musk. Heather and vanilla. Aniseed sweets.

Palate: Licorice, cola and root beer. Vanilla ice cream.

Finish: The cola flavour continues with a licorice root aftertaste.

Glasgow Distillery 2017 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Glasgow Distillery 2017 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

The Glasgow Distillery, founded in 2014, revived whisky-making in the city after over a century. It produces rich, fruity single malts, which here Claxton's pair spectacularly with another PX sherry hogshead maturation. This might be 4 year old liquid, but it punches well above its age statement with incredible intensity and depth.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Rich stewed fruit. Dark chocolate covered raisins. Heavy Sherry notes.

Palate: A mix of honey glaze, rich fruits, heavy Sherry and sweet oak.

Finish: Long, sweet finish with rich fruits and oak in the aftertaste.

Linkwood 2010 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Linkwood dates back two centuries, but there have actually been three different Linkwoods. Torn down and rebuilt in 1874 to increase output, the original version later became known as ‘Linkwood A’ when it was joined by a second distillery on the same site in 1971. The two ran in tandem until 1985, when Linkwood A was retired, leaving Linkwood B to reign as the one true Linkwood to this day. Here this elegant and complex single malt is complemented by maturation in a shaved, toasted and recharred barrique - flavour abounds!

Tasting notes:

Nose: Strawberry sherbet sweet. Custard creaminess.

Palate: Trifle flavours; fruit, custard and biscuit sweetness.

Finish: Candy finish with sweet oak and vanilla.

Tobermory 2010 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Tobermory 2010 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Tobermory is the sole whisky distillery on the idyllic Hebridean Isle of Mull. The light, fruity and malty spirit has a slightly waxy texture and a maritime influence from the island location. Claxton's matured this bottling for 13 years in a rum barrel, lending some darker sweet notes and delicious depth.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Sweet heather bonfire notes. Soft fruits with light tobacco smoke.

Palate: Light and smoky at first with vanilla and more bonfire notes.

Finish: Malty finish with a delicate smoky finish. Lots of heather.

Benriach 2012 Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Dram Team Founder Chris' first ever whisky purchase was a Benriach whisky, from the then "Curiositas" range, matured in rum, sherry and bourbon casks. Suffice to say this Claxton's take on Benriach caught his eye, as maturation in a tawny port barrique promises a whole new dimension of flavours to complement this fruity and robust Speyside malt.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Sweet waxy fruit. Ripe poached peaches. Strudel.

Palate: Lots of tobacco, leather and rich fruit with oak smoke.

Finish: Thick finish with oak and sweet tobacco.

Mannochmore 34 Year Old Claxton's Warehouse No.1

Mannochmore 34 Year Old,  Claxton's Warehouse No.1

We're particularly excited to present this sixth, dream dram today. It marks the debut in our whisky tasting boxes of Mannochmore distillery, and at 34 years of age, this release promises to be quite the introduction! A mainstay of Johnnie Walker blends, this underrated Speysider has a clean, crisp style with a peppery edge, that is beautifully mellowed by age.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Tropical fruits with bubble-gum. Sweet herbs, spices, oak and malt.

Palate: Lots of ripe fruits, sweet oak and again bubble-gum – juicy fruits.

Finish: Medium finish. Sweet oak and more tropical fruits.
