Welcome to the 17th instalment of our regular Whisky Under Fifty reviews, where we review a different whisky (or whiskey) that you can buy for less than £50! If you’d like to know more about why we're doing this series, read our introduction post here.
In this edition of Whisky Under Fifty, we have a bumper turnout for you with not one, not two, but five recommendations! It's a quartet of supremely well-priced indie gems from independent bottler Murray McDavid.
Murray McDavid release whiskies across a spectrum of prices, right up to some premium treats. But their latest label release, Cask Craft, is what we'd like to talk about today.
Murray McDavid Cask Craft
Murray McDavid's ‘Cask Craft’ is a range of single malts from across Scotland, artfully matured in a variety of wood types, displaying fine balance of oak and spirit. They're released in batches of around 10,000, so the distilleries and expressions may change from release to release. But, they are great quality sippers and are extremely well priced at only £34 a bottle.
The line up includes:
- Bourbon Finish
- Double Finish
- Sherry Finish
- Port Finish
- Madeira Finish
All of the releases are bottled at a respectable 44.5% ABV and are packed full of flavour.
